Disclosure
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) YEAR 2000 READINESS DISCLOSURE(*)

Any and all year 2000 product or service readiness information disseminated by MIT is designated as a "Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure" as defined in the Year 2000 Information and Readiness Disclosure Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-271, 112 Stat. 2386) (the "Act"). This designation applies to information, statements, and materials furnished by MIT from the MIT Year 2000 Internet website (the "MIT Y2K Website"), from non-MIT websites accessed through hyperlinks within the MIT Y2K Website ("Linked Websites"), or in any tangible form.

The MIT Y2K Website is MIT's primary mechanism for communicating year 2000 information to members of the MIT community and to third parties. All year 2000 readiness information regarding non-MIT products, services, and year 2000 processing capabilities are "republications" under the Act, and all such republications are based solely on information providedto or obtained by MIT from the third-party suppliers, owners, vendors, licensors, or manufacturers of those services or products. MIT has not independently verified the content or accuracy of any republication, and MIT expressly disclaims any responsibility or liability for damages which may result from the information contained in such republications.

Y2K Compliance at MIT
MIT Definition of Year 2000 Compliance

MIT adopts the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Section 39.002 to define Year 2000 compliance as follows:

"Year 2000 compliant, as used in this part, means, with respect to information technology, that the information technology accurately processes date/time data (including, but not limited to, calculating, comparing, and sequencing) from, into, and between the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and the years 1999 and 2000 and leap year calculations, to the extent that other information technology, used in combination with the information technology being acquired, properly exchanges date/time data with it." *

* At MIT, testing is a critical component in the process of declaring a system Y2K compliant

MIT's Commitment

The Institute is committed to having no material disruptions in its systems from the Y2K event.
