Overall Service Measures

The VM systems at MIT run on an IBM 7060 Model H30 processor. The IBM 7060 has one CPU engine with one gigabyte of memory and is configured into 2 LPARs (logical partitions), MITVMA & MITVMC. Each partition runs a discreet copy of the z/VM 4.4 operating system. Both partitions share the CPU, thus there is additional overhead as the partitions compete for the available CPU.

The Total CPU usage measured here is the absolute number of CPU seconds used by MITVMA and MITVMC combined for the period noted. The CPU usage for LISTSERV and Print Services denote the CPU seconds consumed by each of the components that make up each service. These service measurements are combined across partitions when appropriate.

(*) The last of the TSM Servers on VM were phased out during Q2 of FY2004. TSM migration from VM to UNIX completed successfully by the end of 2003.
